Meet Dr. Qian
I became a psychologist because I love helping people make sense of behavior. Whether it's a toddler having daily meltdowns, a child struggling with anxiety, or a new parent wondering if they're "doing it right," I believe that understanding comes before change.
My training began in pediatric psychology, where I specialized in early childhood development, neurodevelopmental disabilities, and supporting children with behavioral and emotional challenges. Over the years, my work has expanded to caring for school-age children, adolescents, and families navigating life's many transitions. I have a particular interest in working with immigrant and Asian American families, helping them navigate the intersection of culture, identity, parenting, and mental health.
Today, I am an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where I provide integrated behavioral health care within pediatric primary care. In this role, I also have the privilege of training future psychologists and working to expand access to evidence-based mental health services for children and families.
As a bilingual Mandarin-English psychologist, I strive to provide culturally responsive care that honors each family's unique values, experiences, and story.
I earned a Master's in Education from Harvard University and my doctorate in psychology through the PAU-Stanford PsyD Consortium. I completed my clinical internship at Children's Mercy Kansas City and my postdoctoral fellowship at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.
